Stink from air con system

First off, my car is kept spotless inside and out. However whenever I turn on the air con, I get that "wet dog" smell for a few minutes. I've tried one of those aircon "bombs" in the past and it was feck all use tbh. The car is three years old and I plan on replacing it next year so I don't want to spend a fortune trying to resolve this. However as I'll probably use the aircon a lot over the winter for demisting purposes, I don't fancy getting that smell very time I use it.

    Any recommendations?

Mainly coaused by a build up of bacteria in the AC system. You have a few different options.

I would do the following :

    Option 1
    • Turn on AC
    • Turn up to the hotest temp possible.
    • Turn fan speed up as high as possible.
    • Go for a 20 min drive up and down some motorway.
You'll be hot as hell but aometimes the heat kills the bacteria and reids the smell.

    Option 2

    Replace the Microfilter.

    Option 3

    Get the AC system flushed.
Thers a fast fit or similar in Santry at the main junction of the Airport Road that do do AC flush, disinfection, and refil and also put an odour bomb into the system for €50

Personally, i'd do both option 2 and 3 for best results.

    09 Laguna btw.

I'll try that place in Santry tomorrow to see if it works. I take it they know what they're doing. Price is very cheap though. Bill Cullen in Lffey Valley wanted twice that.

Passed by his dealership today and it looks very empty, car wise. I know he lost the Renault franchise but I didn't think his garage would look so run down so quickly.
