Hi all - my boyf lives in my house with me. His job has had to close down for a week due to maintenance and he is not being paid for it.

He went down to the Social Welfare this morning to apply for Casual worker benefit? He has been paying PRSI since June 2010 and they told him that he has not got enough stamps and he will have to be means tested which means, means tested against me.

Basically to check if I can support him I guess.

I pay so much of my salary towards this country every month, if they give me back what I paid, I would gladly give it to him!

It seems very unfair for us hard working people.

Anyway basically I am just wondering, does this sound correct?

    Should he do something else?

I am not that clued up with the ins and outs of the Social Welfare!!!
