Driving Test Online Application

I have applied and sat the driving test before but hoping to reapply soon.
My query is this when I apply online can I state what date and time I want or can you only do that with phone/form application or for when going for cancellation?

I didn't spot an option to state or schedule a specific date/time for the test when I wanted it. I know when I applied online before I could state dates not available but just chose that I was available any date/time so didn't have to state I were unavailable and didn't select option to be put forward for a cancellation. I just took what ever date I got through email. I go with postal response next time.

I've seen other posters on the learning to drive forum state that they were able to pick a date and time, how is this possible? Is it on the way they applied? My three weeks have well and truly passed so can schedule a test again.

Any demo for the online application or do I have to apply a different way in order to get a date/time I want?

Thanks for any info in advance!

I have the same problem. So annoying. Only two options after money is paid! One is schedule a date, which they will in general give me a **** time like rush hours. The second option is wait in a cancellation list. I just want to pick a date and time by myself. Anyone knows the reason?

As far as I know it will only let you book a specific time online if the test is going to happen within 4 weeks. If those 4 weeks are booked up, for some reason it won't let you book a specific time after that.

If there are specific dates/times you won't be available you can probably ring in to tell them this and they can add it to your file.

You can also ring in every day if you want to see are there available time-slots (they would get cancellations and you might be lucky and get one that suits you). I just had to ring in a few times myself and I got a time that suited me.

I think they only book up the tests about 5 weeks in advance.

    Apply now

Once you’ve made sure you satisfy the above requirements, you can:

Apply for your driving test in English
Apply for your driving test in Irish

When applying for a test online, you may schedule a test for yourself if one is available. You may also change your test date if a scheduled date or time does not suit you.

I changed a test date that I was given before. It counted as a cancellation and a rebooking just so people are aware (you can cancel twice without loosing your fee).

I was going to book the test for the end of the month with an expectation of being given a random date for around the end of Nov (based on current online wait times). Now I'm thinking would I be better off waiting an extra month to book it so I might be able to pick a slot that suits me best? (want to wait to do the test in mid-late Nov for personal reasons). From what I remember the last time I wasn't able to see what dates were available until after I had paid, which is a bit annoying.
