    Hello,:pac:

I recently was unfortunate enough to leave my new laptop under askylight. Foolish mistake considering Irish weather. Came back tofind a soggy laptop. Booo

Anyway came across a few threads on boards of people buildingthere own Desktops. seems like a pretty sweet deal, when you considerthe savings.

I'm a little apprehensive as i have never done it before. i havehowever on numerous occasions pulled apart my own old PC and Laptopand would have a good knowledge of computers. I'm not sure how toselect certain components with respect to comparability or powersupply.

any way i would love to hear some opinions from other people.

    1. What is your budget? around 1000

    2. What will be themain purpose of the computer? Gaming and CAD

    3. Do you need acopy of Windows? No

    4. Can you use any parts from an oldcomputer? Not sure My Dell XPS laptop had an i7 processor and 6gb ofram not sure if i can use this on a Desktop. i also have to 1Tb ofHDD from the laptop.

    5. Do you need a monitor? yes 24"preferably possibly 2 monitors If i can afford it and also if the GPUhas more than 1 outputs

    6. Do you need any of theseperipherals? No

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? notinitially but at some stage

    8. How can you pay? anyway

    9.When are you purchasing? soon

    10. If you need help buildingit, where are you based? Dublin 13

I see a lot of people recomending hardwareversand, if you get amonitor/PSU from them does it come with a Irish plug???

Was looking at a Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 seems pretty beast! .Ithink the GPU is probably the most important thing, A SSD is notimportant initially as i can pick one up in time when i have a bitmore cash.

any way would appreciate some advice thanks all.

    Neil:):D:)
