Right. First off Sorry for starting what probably has been said before, but I got no clear answer on it. Would anyone know what the requirements for a class 1, 2, and 3 medical are? I'm only 16 but I'm looking in jobs in aviation in the futre, or for medicals and stuff and there's no point in me spending money unless I know there's a chance of me passing.

I have myopia, to the extent that I need 1.25 in one eye and 1.0 in the other but, as I grow older it will get worse. I tried looking up the JAA stuff and I got this
    (b) Refractive errors. Refractive error is
defined as the deviation from emmetropia
measured in dioptres in the most ametropic
meridian. Refraction shall be measured by standard
methods (see paragraph 1 Appendix 13 to Subpart
B). Applicants shall be [ ][assessed as] fit with
respect to refractive errors if they meet the
    following requirements:
    (1) Refractive error
    (i) At the initial examination the
refractive error shall [ ][be within the
range of +5 to -6] dioptres (see paragraph
    2 (a) Appendix 13 to Subpart B).
    (ii) At revalidation or renewal
    examinations, an applicant experienced to
the satisfaction of the Authority with [a]
    refractive [ ][error not exceeding] [ ][+5]
dioptres [or with a high myopic refractive
error exceeding -6 dioptres] may be [
][assessed as] fit by the AMS (see
    paragraph 2 (b) Appendix 13 to Subpart

but it doesn't mention VA, uncorrected or corrected. Would anyone have these figures?

I believe it's not less than 6/12 in each eye for class 2 and 6/9 for a class 1 They must be 6/6 with both eyes together with or without correction for both class 1 & 2.

Your myopia is not too bad for your age and you should be within the limits.

I'm a tad older than you but I ended up having to go to an Opthamologist to ask this question (I have myopia, Hyperopia, convergent squint and a few other fun issues with my eyes) he was around €100 for the consultation.

Before that I'd gone into specsavers with the JAR Class 1 medical eyesight requirements sheet and asked him to make sure my eyes would pass the standard, (the only reason I went for a second opinion was the specsavers Optometrist gave me the answer I wasn't looking for) seeing as you only have myopia this is probably your best option to be certain?

Although as mentioned above, you probably will have no problem! Best of luck.
