Mazda 6

The first one looks suspiciously cheap for a new shape model and a quick google of the phone number shows up another car for sale on another site which looks like a dealer photo. Could well be a scam. The second one looks a bit on the expensive side to me, you could probably get a 09 model for similar money.

They are difficult to sell as are most petrol cars in that size as everyone wants a diesel. The thing is though, a 2008 or newer 1.8 Mazda 6 is actually cheaper to tax on the co2 than on the engine based system and if you are not doing big mileage then they are a great bargin. They are a fairly modern, very reliable car for small money. The way I see the lower purchase price over a diesel model outweights the slightly higher mpg of the petrol model.

1st one seems to be sitting in a yard as there is a car transporter in the background.
The Mazda 6 are a fine car, looking at buying one myself in the near future so you will have a good car.
The executive is a nicer car, but a lot dearer.
If it looks too cheap it generally is!

Why are they so cheap anyway? I was looking for a newish diesel a couple of months ago and I like the look of the 6. I could have gotten a 2009 model a good bit cheaper than my 08 new shape Accord but stuck with what I know. Still like the look of them but the inside disappoints alright.

The older model 6 diesel had a terrible reputation for imploding which has rubbed off on the newer model. Small dealer network, oddball specs and non existant marketting has also limited their appeal. Also to be fair a 6 cost alot less than an Accord when new.

Have they that bad a rep?
Was looking at a 2009/2010 2.2 diesel version to buy either late this year or early next, but from what you are saying Bazz they are worth avoiding?

Don't think the 2.2 diesel is as bad as the 2.0 obviously maintenance and service history is key.
I thought there was a boardsie who has the newer model.

Why is every car that is reasonably priced on donedeal considered a scam?

It's not the price, it's the fact that there's 2 separate ads, with different photos.

I tend to air on the side of caution rather than be blinded by a low price into thinking it is a bargin.

The old one only has a terrible rep on boards. Most people aren't aware of it, and it certainly hasn't rubbed off on the newer model.
The 6 is cheap second hand because the Irish have no imagination. Ford, Opel, Toyota and VW. They're the big 4 that the Irish love.
The 6 is an excellent car. The weakest point is the interior, which is disappointing in the earlier models, after the facelift it is improved. It's the best handling car in it's class.

I had the Mazda 6 MPS and the interior (2005) seems grand, then again it wasn't for the interior it was bought! :)

We've had Diesel 6s in the family for years. No issues.

The key seems to check the oil every so often and make sure it doesn't approach the X mark. A long journey every so often for the DPF is necessary too.

I think they are great cars myself.

I have an 08 Mazda 6 for the past 5 months. 1.8 petrol.

So far great car with v little problems. A few warning lights relating came on due to an electrical fault, fixed by a garage. The interior can be a bit squeaky, (it annoys me when I lean on the steering wheel, wife doesn't even notice, but i'm picky like that) and there's nowhere to store spare wheel. Apart from those small niggles it's a great car.

Good MPG i'd say maybe 42+ dual carriageway citi driving combined, apparently it's a good bit lighter than Mondeo that it's loosely based on . Well kitted out in most specs.

As far as I know there are no issues with the new model diesels, the bad rep comes from the previous model
