Failing Erasmus?

    If you get sick and have to come home from Erasmus, say, a month in, what happens? Do you have to repeat the entire year?

    Depends on the specific case probably.

    If you chose to do erasmus while the rest of your class continued on with their degree in UL then you might have a problem. However if erasmus was compulsory for your entire class then you should be fine, you just have to do some make up assignments for the credits you missed.
