The test costs €120 but you also need the CPC at €152. When I did it a few years ago there wait was about 6 weeks, cars where way longer at the time.

Driving HGV's in Ireland now is a bad game to be in. Everything has gone up, fuel/tax/insurance/etc, so wages now aren't much more than minimum wage.

If your around Dublin I used Collier's

An Irish licence is valid in all EU states and most EEA countries.

The term "HGV" isn't really used here anymore as it's confusing.

There are basically 2 types of truck licence.

A "C" category which is commonly referred to as a "rigid" licence.

A "C+E" category which is commonly referred to as an "artic" (articulated truck) licence.

You must have a full category "B" (cars/small vans) before applying for a "C" learner permit.

You must have a full category "C" licence before applying for a "C+E" learner permit.

An Irish/EEA licence will cover you in any European country.

I did it in the 1990's so I don't know the current costs or waiting times. It was also before the theory tests/CPC era so it's probably more drawn out nowadays.

The costs for the tests I've already posted. You'll have to buy the Theory Test and pass the Trucks category, you can get it in library's also. As already pointed out you'll have to go C then get the EC, so 2 sets of tests.

If you're currently driving in the US then a few lessons in each, to learn to drive on the right:D:D side of the road should do. The waiting times when I did the tests, a good while ago now, where about 6 weeks in Finglas.
