Something tells me you'll know when this hits your local cinema!

Directed by Chris Wedge (Robots, Ice Age), this CG movie is based on a popular children's book about a teenager who finds herself transported to a deep forest with some unusual inhabitants. Here she discovers an ancient battle between good and evil, in which a band of heroes must be formed in order to save their world and her own.

At the very least, the voice cast is certainly going to catch your eye - Colin Farrell, Christoph Waltz, Amanda Seyfried, Josh Hutcherson, Beyoncé Knowles, Johnny Knoxville, Aziz Ansari, Pitbull () and Steven Tyler. The music score will be done by none other than Danny Elfman. It's due for release on May 24, 2013.

2 things I've noticed from the trailer - stunningly beautiful visuals that provide eye nectar to the retinas and "What if The Storm Ends" by Snow Patrol -

Well, it's certainly got a big name to live up to! (geddit?..........*tumbleweed*)

Second trailer has been released -

Gives a better indication of the movie's story and style. The visuals have really drawn me to it and even though the bar for animation is constantly being raised these days, I think this is a whole new level of brilliance!

The second trailer is much better... but I wish these studios would hire proper cinematographers...

Ferngully meets Honey I Shrunk The Kids kinda thing then, yeah?

The plot certainly isn't original and the comparisons with the likes of Ferngully are inevitable. Still, its been a while since I've enjoyed this type of traditional tale and there's always a chance it won't be a by-the-numbers animation to draw kids into cinemas in the summer.

Plus, Christoph Waltz providing the voice of the villian - always genius in my book anyways! :-D
