Hi all, my brother is looking to get his xr3i back on the road and mechanically it needs very little to be roadworthy.
It has however got some rust on the rear passenger side wheel arch... its structurally not too bad as in its not eaten through but the rust is on the outside surface of the wing, the rest of the car is in very good condition and needs nothing except a good buff..
I'm looking for some experienced heads on here to help with a ball park figure for a repair on the arch etc including paint+labour. Its Mercury metalic paint code bk2076c delete257.jpgdelete258.jpg
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Barney

I am probablythe least qualified to talk on this matter,

    but i reckon,

get the rust rubbed off, filler applied, paint whole wing (with risk of mis match) 250 euro or more

de rust it yourself, apply fillers , paint that piece with an aerosol ,30 euro. does it look great, no, but looks ok.

the former course could be 15 % of the cars value.

    Regards Rugbyman

    Cheers for the reply Rugbyman,
I had a word with a panel beater today and got a quote of 250- 300 ish but that was with out him seeing the car in the flesh so to speak.
The car is in very good nick other than this one arch, the diver side arch is perfect.
These are getting rare enough nowadays so we're keen to get it back on the road.
    Thanks once again! Barney

That looks fairly bad, I'd cut that piece out and weld a new piece in, and a skim of filler over it, an hours work ;).
