This may be an experience issue.. but how confident do you feel when taking corners on wet roads on a road bike,. When the road is wet do you take any particular precautions to get around corners without hitting the deck ?? speed is obviously one factor any other advice would be welcome. Out this morning and had a few scary moments...

Speed is the main one, since wet conditions means grip is reduced. Do your braking before the corner and take a smooth line through the corner to avoid having to correct yourself mid turn. Distribute your weight by leaning on the outside hand and pedal.

Cheers, thanks for the advice Vladmir, based on the weather at the moment I think I will get plenty of practice. I nearly lost it this morning when I tried to correct and redirect whilst going around a corner. Seem to cheer up a motorist though, my face must have said it all...:D

Was out this morning in the phoinex park. I'm a newbie to the racer world and mist admit it felt ropey shall we say on more than one occassion.
Just tried to go slow around the bends.

Keep it smooth & knock the speed down before you begin to corner & avoid manhole covers, tram tracks etc, where possible. Running a slightly lower tire pressure should also help

Plan ahead a lot more carefully, try not to make corrections mid-turn, try not to brake mid-turn, and don't pedal until straightened up and going straight. Keep the turn smooth and directed. In essence it's simplified as doing what you would do for a really fast cornering on a dry surface, but at a lot lower speed.

I found this video quite helpful when I began racing a few years back. Its about descending but still goes over all the basics of cornering.
