Welcome, and thank you for choosing ITB PhotoSoc.

    About Us
The Photographic Society of ITB (ITB PhotoSoc) was set up by Paul Murray (CEO) and Gary Cunningham(COO) in 2009, We quickly grew to become the largest society on campus and picked up the Society of the Year 2009/2010 award at the end of our first year and receiving a Nomination for the best New Society at the Board Of Irish College Societies (BICS)Awards. Our Success continued with PhotoSoc retaining the Society Of Year Title 2012/2011 and receiving a nomination for Best Civic Contribution at BICS . The society is intended to bring together people with an interest in all aspects of photography from the absolute beginer to the acomplised amatuer. We Accommodate anyone with an interest and expesive fancy equipment is NOT essential, infact in our first exhibition 2 of the three prize winners where photo’s taken on a Mobile Phone!!!

    What We Do

ITB Photosoc runs various fun and intersting activities throughout the year both on and off campus, We aim to have at least 3 external outings per semester and try to accommodate the interests of all our members by varing the location of these outings as much as possible. In the Past we have visited Glendalough, Howth , Dalymount Park and the Aviva Stadium. We also run various workshops and critiques on campus on a regular basis culminating in our end of year Exhibition which is one of the most eagerly awaited events on campus each year. Some of our projects will run on an ongoing basis such as our “Day In The Life” project, the results of which can be seen hanging outside the sportshall in Craoi Block.

    What we give back
ITB PhotoSoc has a strong social conscience and this is reflected in our events for charity and local organisations. In 2010/11 we raised 1,911 for Tallght Childrens Hosptial and 1,000 for Barnardo’s. We also ran photography workshops in local primary schools and take part in the annual bucket shaking day for Special Olympics Ireland.

    Proposed Events for 2012/2013*

The Society will meet weekly provisionally on Thursday’s but we will try to accommodate as many members as possible and may even hold secondary meetings to make sure no one misses out.
