Hi, I have a sony Vaio (VGC-LT2S) for the last while it has had blue lines running down the screen ( sorry the picture is sideways ) anyway 99 times out of a hundred the computer wont start normally ( windows failed to start ) restore didn't help and the self repair didn't work, and now i can only use the pc in safe mode (its the only way it will start up) there is no sound in safe mode andi need sound, would anybody know what the cause of this is? or if it is a common problem with this type of vaio, i have had it for 3-4 years now and it never gave me any bother, i was gonna bring it for repair (authorised sony repairer) but thought i would ask here first as someone told me it could be my graphics card that is dying ( or something to that effect) i am not very computer literate so no tech speak if possible, thanks for reading.

First things first lets find out if its a gpu ,card problem or possibly screen.

Using a VGA cable output the laptop to a monitor (By holding Fn and switch key normally F5)

See if there is any difference

    What os are you running?
