    Hi,

I am interested in giving private tuition to small groups. I'm just wondering - does anyone know what usually happens in terms of where tuition is delivered when groups are taught privately? I ask because I would not be able to teach from my own place and obviously, if there are several different students, I could not teach in their homes. Would anyone know/have any suggestions?

    Thanks.

Local Libraries usually have meeting rooms, but for a private venture you might want to say your doing AA through the medium of Maths or whatever... Universities can have good meeting rooms around libraries but depends on access etc

why would I have to say I was doing AA through the medium of maths and what do you mean??(!) (not 100% sure)
    thanks...

Perhaps you could book your local community centre?

Ya sorry, I suppose it depends on who you talk to or how you ask, but in the past i asked to use a meeting room in the library and she said, off you go there's a room free every wednesday at 7pm..(I just said it was a maths support group though!)

But other libraries might start asking you about if it's benefitting the community in any way (that;s why I used the Al. Anon. comment)

I might be a bit reluctant to mention AA, just to avoid getting myself into bother!

If it were Maths, I could say I am improving numeracy (!) and it it were English, literacy?

Maths Support Group would suggest no money changing hands to me - I guess if they had any inkling that money was changing hands it might be a problem?

I know for our school, the rooms are offered at a rate in the evenings on days when the gym or other parts of the school are open.

As long as the classrooms and equipment are left undamaged and tidy, it was made clear to me that the school is not that bothered what financial arrangements those using them have with their students. The one proviso was that the classes being offered could not be competing with ones already running in the school's night school.
