Wing mirror of my car got broken, its currently being held together by selotape and the whole thing needs to be replaced. Also the window winder which apparently is around €70 from what I have been able to find out. The wing mirror has to be red as well. Any recommendations?

Forgot to mention the car is a VW Polo, 00, 1.0L

Just to add that the wing mirror from a Lupo or Seat Ibiza of similar vintage may be the same also.

Anyway I can tell if they are, I know that there are very similar cars, trying to get the best deal I can, heading back to college soon and I can't be driving around with a nearside mirror held together with selotape. It would seem that because it is the facelift model and was only around from 00-01 there is a lack of them around, especially in a particular colour, and this jacks up the price. So if I was able to take it from another car that would be awesome.

I always find eBay the handiest for mirrors (and I've had to buy a fair few unfortunately)
If you can't get the right color get a spraycan from halfords.
You may find the backing transferable from old to new(coloured bit)

Anytime I tried the breakers in Limerick for mirrors they didn't want to know.

You could always try Traynor's up in Armagh - they have a huge amount of stuff and they have places where they deliver weekly (from the back of a truck in a car park).
I don't know if they go to Limerick but a simple phone call would confirm whether they have the part, the price and where they go.
    Best of luck.

Traynors will also send in the post, which is not that expensive. Have purchased from them before and normally had it in 2 working days at most.

Will get onto bob sweeneys in the morning, I would prefer not to have to paint the mirror myself as the rest of the car is obviously a bit faded seeing as its pushing 13 years old and I think a newly painted mirror casing would look off. If bobs don't have it then I will try traynors, in fact may try both to see who has the better price. Thanks lads, much appreciated :)

The one from a scrap yard may not be faded either. To be honest I don't think either way will have much bearing on a 13 year old car. Holding out for a red one you could be waiting.

I'm going pricing around, im going to get the cheapest one I can, just found out that the car needs a load of work so if I have to spray it then I will, I saw that one on eBay, thought the postage was a bit much personally, will try the breakers yards before I buy.

Just wanted to report back, Bob Sweeneys took my details and what I wanted said they would ring back in 10 minutes, never rang back.

I rang longs and was greeted by the guy saying "****ing phones", what a fabulous way to greet potential customers.

Traynors were great, didn't have the window winder but I got the mirror and another small part I needed for £40 delivered so I am happy enough, I have out up a request for the part on autoparts.ie so we'll see if I get a response, thanks lads.

What window winder do you need?

I know a guy who has one for parts.

I know that's why I would like to get it at a breakers yard instead, good bit of work to be done to the car and that thing costs more than the timing kit, trying to save money anyway I can, heading back to college soon. Thanks again :)
