Evening all. I've an interview on Monday in Ballsbridge, and I'm loOking for advice as to the best route to take to get me there for 10.30 am.

I know of a few different ways to get there, but just looking to see if anybody on here has first hand experience.

As in, would the canal be as manic as it usually is at about 09.30 am?

Any opinions/ advice greatly appreciated as always.

Train from Louisa Bridge/Confey to Pearse. Change over to DART and get off at Sandymount/Landsdowne Road. Your practically at Ballsbridge then. Usually only takes an hour at peak time.

You would be mad driving in, parking is crap out there.

Jeers lads. I was half thinking of the train alright. Cos my next query was going to be parking alright.

Your as well off to. The traffic is madness along the canal round 9am. I'm several times faster on a bicycle along the canals at that time of the morning.

'Ballsbridge' is a very wide area because folk as far away as Bath Ave. use that tag, where exactly are you heading to?

You may be better off walking to Merrion Sq. from Pearse Station and getting a 7 bus if you're going to certain parts of 'Ballsbridge' which are not close to the Dart.

Valid point. I should've been more specific alright. The interview is across the road from the RDS. Behind the old Lexus/ Toyota showroom.

Leaning towards the train now alright.

It's a long enough walk from Lansdowne Road or Sandymount Dart stations to the RDS, I'd walk from Pearse (Westland Row) around the corner into Merrion Sq and get the 7 bus, that will drop you off right at the old Toyota showroom. From 9 a.m. there is a 7 bus every 15 minutes.

Otherwise, assuming you arrive at Pearse at 9:30, there are southbound Darts at 9:31 (Greystones), 09:50 (Bray) and 10:00 (Greystones). Sandymount Dart is marginally closer to the RDS than Lansdowne Road Dart but given the extra train ride, they work out about the same in terms of arrival time at the RDS.

Next Monday is the first day back at school for lots of kids so there will be a huge load of extra traffic, you definitely do not want to drive this route if you're not familiar with it, get the train.

Cheers man. Been looking on the Journey Planner app, and it's giving some options alright.

Don't want to be turning up all sweaty from walking, or wet from possibly getting pissed on.

The parking in Ballsbridge is a pain in the arse though.

There's plenty of parking in D4 if you know where to look but it's expensive, the most expensive colour zone in the city is yellow (€2.90 per hour) and it extends all the way south from the city centre to the old Jurys hotel. Herbert Park (red, €2.40 p.h.) might have a few spaces but you'll need to drive into the middle section well away from the Merrion Road to find spots.

But as it's the first day back at school for the majority of students, you would be mad to drive a car to an interview if you're not familiar with Ballsbridge/D4, take the train.

Park in the RDS for €6 per day (provided not full). Would not have thought there'd be any problem on a Monday.

Cheers man. Was wondering if they did parking. The other alternative is Bewleys. But iirc, their parking charges are a bit on the steep side.
