    Bottle of whiskey?
    Cufflinks?

Get them something they will appreciate. If they don't wear cufflinks regularly it's a waste of time all round.

    Do they drink?
Would they appreciate a hotel voucher / restaurant voucher?
    Cigars if they smoke?

Something they are into rather than just something which will gather dust.

Pay for their room on the night would be an idea (can't get over the number of people who don't do this as a matter of course). Don't go down the cufflinks or hip flask/beer tankard route, my husband has these and they are never used.

I'd agree with a voucher, one4all is good as it can be used in loads of places. Or if they have a place they regularly eat, a voucher for there.

Depending on what you are willing to spend but how about a spa visit,
open blade shave, shampoo, massage (not that kind!!!!) etc

I'd say get them something you'd get them for a birthday present. I'd second what lazygal said about not getting cufflinks/hipflasks etc. A reasonable bottle of whisky, a DVD box-set, a funny t-shirt etc.

Would a €50 gift voucher for a local restaurant or Man's shop be OK of a present?

Personally, I dislike vouchers. They so often go un-used. I know someone on this forum got their groomsmen vouchers for their local.

I'm in this at the moment. I was going to do the hip flasks etc but realistically, they wont be used.
Got one brother a PS3, another a watch and still looking for the third one! They're so different, that nothing would suit them all.

    A fair idea.

Also to the OP, relax, as they won't be bothered either way.

Yeah, I'd meant to say in that post that I'd consider that to be the exception that proves the rule regarding vouchers. Most are impersonal, many cost the recipient money (as they have to be topped up to get the benefit out of them etc.), others are just impractical and end up sitting in drawers never to be used.

At present, I think myself and the other half have two vouchers for restaurants in the house since last Christmas. We don't have babysitters very often and when we do, it tends to be for someone else's wedding, birthday etc. so it've *very* rare we have the chance to go out for a meal as just the two of us. Think we've only done it maybe 4/5 times in the 5 years we've been together!!! Now, maybe the intention of the gift was to encourage us to do more of it as we do genuinely enjoy it when we get the chance but whilst they come with the "we'll babysit whenever ye want to use the voucher" it just ends up gathering dust as we need to call on those people to babysit for "more important" events...
