    Folks,
Does anyone know of a decent website for finding Open Competitions in England?
Something simular to the GUI's open fixtures search engine would be ideal.
Had a quick search around the net but cant find anything nearly as good.
Tried the GUE's website and its poor.
Still have my handicap as a distance member in Ireland but fancy playing a bit of competitive golf over in England where i presume my GUI number would be recognised for Competition entry.

I've wondered this myself before. Are we eligible to play opens in the uk?

I persume so from this on the GUI website
A GUI (CONGU®) Handicap, awarded by a club affiliated to one of the eight National Unions/Associations that administer amateur golf in Great Britain and Ireland, is recognised by National golfing authorities and clubs throughout the world as indicative of the golfing capability of the holder

Clubs in England do not have regular opens like in ireland. Say somewhere like blackbush has one every Thursday, county Meath on a Monday etc... In London especially north London the clubs would have one open event normally, a stroke competition, once in the summer. Pure and utter desperate if you ask me! It's proper old school as well, fill in the application form (can't be emailed, must be posted) send in your £48 for 18 holes followed with a two course meal (evening jackets required) and listen to a load of auld fellas hob knob about the place.

In the whole, they won't really want you playing in there opens, they must perfer if you have a UK based handicap, however make sure to print out your handicap cert and you should be fine.

This website might come in handy http://www.golfempire.co.uk/index.htm

I've seen this on a few of the Club Websites, time to come out of the middle ages!
Thanks for the reply anyway, i'll check out the website.
