Advice on selling...

Folks - we have a 2007 Opel Tigra on gumtree + auto trader for sale. I'm not trying to sell via this forum but am looking for advice on other ways to sell it or advice on auctions.

    1. Car has to be gone by Sept 20th (we're leaving the country)
    2. Is up for 6k (about 60k on the clock).
    3. Photos up on gumtree and autotrader.

We've had no interest yet except for some stupid paypal scammer !

Is the price OTT ? Is the car that unpopular ?

We bot have very limited experience of selling cars as I would normally by a banger and drive it to the end of it's life !

Is an auction a valid option, I imagine we'd get less cash !

We've photos of the NCT / Tax discs up (NCT good to May 2013) and had it serviced and cleaned the day we took the photos.

Any hints and tips would be greatly appreciated, we had a blast with the silly little car, but now we need to turn it into emmigration cash !

first of all .. stick it on Donedeal.

6K might be a bit pricey for selling a 5 year old convertible opel, especially considering the summer we are having.

If you really need it gone, and as you are selling a car that isn't everybody's cup of tea you need to advertise it much cheaper than all other examples. Stick it up for €5250 and accept the first reasonable offer you get.

donedeal would be a better bet than either of those sites.

Thanks, understand what you're saying re: price. We'd priced it below all the cars of it's year (and has lower mileage) , I guess that's still too high since it's not selling.

Auctions ? Not worth it ?

Put it on done deal first and then drop the price if you still get no interest

The problem also is that a lot the type of person who buys a two seat convertible have already emigrated so be prepared to sell for less.

Loads of coupes and sporty cars available at the moment and all people want to buy are boring 1.0 litre cars and diesels.

2006 Opel Tigra here on sale by a dealer for €4750 with 25k on the clock

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/3744865

Id say put it up for €5,500; and be willing to sell for €5k

The time of year to buy a convertible is over now, spring time is the best time to start selling these type cars. We are heading into the winter when people are not looking at buying these type cars. You will also struggle to sell it at anywhere near that asking price.

4,000eu would be about right, not a hope is it worth the asking price.

its a tiagra not a 6 pot beemer.
