Hi, I've been accepted into the psychology course in wit, just wondering has anybody got experience of this course ? What are the days like, assessments, books etc. And what subjects would you advise as your minors ? I was considering English and Italian as i got an A in English ? opinions anybody ?

Anybody else going to the same course ?

hi ya Leanne. i ll be doing psych also in a couple weeks. im not sure what the days are like , we ll get our time tables when we go in on 1st day. as for minor subjects, sociology and psych kinda go together however, im thinking about spanish and religon also.

this is the course outline for all the arts subjects http://www.wit.ie/images/uploads/Courses_PDF/WD_200_-_Bachelor_of_Arts__Hons__Outline.pdf

I'm beginning the Psychology degree also. From what I have heard it is a pretty rigorous course, and thirty-five plus hours a week. Unsure as to what assessments and exams are like, but perhaps if you looked up 'Fetac Level 8' in whatever module you wish to investigate from the course outline it may prove fruitful. I did for one module, wouldn't recommend it...tad daunting.

I'm thinking of choosing English and either Italian or Religious Studies as well. Languages are always an asset, but the philosophical side of the Religious Studies module would be interesting.

Do any of you know if there's a limit to the class size for the minor subjects?

English seems to be the only one i cant find the layout for :/ Annoying but anywho thats a really good point about sociology and religion as subjects, confused now, I had said Italian because any language is supposed to be an asset. I'd guess there's a reasonably big class size in the minor subjects seen as we're tied in with arts.. most of the universitys have 1000 places in arts degrees .. I doubt waterford is much different ... I hope we all get what we want anyway .. nothing worse than doing subjects we dont like .. thats what the leaving cert was for :P

On another note 35+ hours a week ... WOW...

Have you checked if this degree is accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland? If it isn't you wont be able to do anything psychology based with it.

For those who wish to pursue a Masters and PhD in the Psychology field, fear not...'tis accredited until October 2013, when it is up for renewal.
