As a lot of you probably do i do as much work on my car that i can do myself.

Now i have my nct coming up and i know for sure that the tracking needs to be done is it a big deal to do the tracking or am i just waiting my time on something that i will end up having to get done any way.

Also if im to go get it done should i bring it to a place that doe's it all the time and has all the gear or bring it to my side of the road mechanic that im not sure if he has all the gear and probably does it by eye.

How much are you looking at for a 2 wheel aliment ?

    Thanks

You don't have to wait for the new tyres, the tracking can be done beforehand.
It's usually about 40 or so for a professional to do it. Depends who you use, ring a few locals and enquire.

€40 or so would get you a full 4-wheel alignment around these parts and that's what I'd be going for. 2 wheel alignment is inferior imo since it doesn't consider what the back wheels are doing.

The price of the alignment would depend on the car and the range of adjustments it has.

Ideally, the tracking should be done after fitting the new tyres as this give the most accurate reading/settings as it eliminates worn tyres which may have 'bedded' into the current alignment settings.

The thing I find is that it's hard to get right even when done professionally. Mine was good until I got new tyres and tracking. Blasted thing drifts/pulls left now and I the steering wheel is a bit to the right keeping the car straight. Gone back a couple of times but seems to be hard to get it right. I must admit that I'm a very fussy fella about steering wheel being straight though.

If you're buying four new tires off someone, I'd expect them to throw in the tracking tbh.

That might be balancing your thinking of.

Some places may throw in basic front wheel tracking but proper 4 wheel alignment which most cars these days require would not be done for free.
