Can a lawful demand be made under the RTA for the production of insurance relating to a non Irish vehicle? Same for an insurance disc?

How does this work in practice? Especially with non English documents?

It can of course. All vehicles on public roads must have insurance and fall under the road traffic act.

In practice most insurance certs are fairly straight forward. Reg of vehicle. Dates insured for. Name of insured.

As always though the onus is on the driver to prove that the vehicle is insured.

Its no different. I think or at least last I checked, you are supposed to carry a translation of your insurance when going abroad so if they are here it should be in English (or maybe Irish I suppose) but when I asked about that for myself I was told it doesn't really happen that often.

Anyway as said, car reg, person and dates will still be easily found unless his name is prawo jazdy :D
