    Hi All,

First of all let me apologize in advance for any faux pas I may make as this is my very first thread here.

I've recently graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in International Business and Languages and have fluent Spanish. A few weeks ago I sent a general application to Zurich and have just done a phone interview for a Sales Delivery Team position (nice way of re-branding a call centre job :) ) in Drinagh Co. Wexford. The first question I wanted to ask is if any one knows what they're like to work for? The other thing is I was quiet disappointed with the Salary offered 21,000 gross p.a. . Now when the guy asked me was I happy with the salary offered I was honest and said most roles (in Dublin) i had applied to were offering 24,000 -26,000 to which he has very quick to defend saying that the salary was fair for the cost of living in Wexford and that they would pay for insurance exams and training.

So am I expecting too much in the current economic climate? does the difference in location really warrant a 3 grand difference?

    Thanks in Advance :)

P.S. I am currently living in north wexford

The guy seems to be on the ball alright. Amazon.co.uk in Cork also only pay under 21,000 to new people starting in their call centre. But they offer other perks, subsidised canteen, employee discounts, stock options, free healthcare etc. Does Zurich offer any of these?

Have a look on Daft at the cost of renting in Wexford compared to Dublin - you wouldn't be long saving that €3,000 (less after tax) a year! Sounds about right to me.

Thanks for your responses. Really appreciate it. I suppose you're right I guess I'm just more attracted to a job in Dublin so I may have been a bit biased. Anyone know fisrt hand what Zurich is like to work for specifically in Wexford??

    Hi there
To be honest I think this is not a bad start of salary for someone just graduated, you have no experience in the field and they also pay exams. At the moment there are many people with years of experience going for jobs and getting less, Insurance always paid lower than other business graduate jobs, when I graduated I went for a role in Dubin and remember at the time being shocked at the low rate compared to other ones I had gone for. Usually you get flexitime or 35 hour week though and maybe subsidised insurance etc too.

    Hi,

Just wondering how you have found working in Zurich in Wexford, Applying at the moment I'm a science graduate. Phone interview seems scary to me

    Hi Orlliee,

I left after a week because i got a better job, so I can't say too much. Everyone there seemed very nice I have to say and the job did not seem too demanding. To be honest there is not many other big companies in Wexford so this is probably your best bet at getting a reasonably paid and secure job in the area unless you want to relocate or get something in the Science field.

    Hope this helps

Hi, I worked for Zurich in their Dublin offices for many years and it was the best company I have worked for. I visited the Wexford office from time to time and I found the staff to be very friendly and easy to work with.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks guys I was a bit apprehensive applying but I'd like something stable at home until I'm lucky enough to get a job in science. Only submitted my cv on Saturday so I'll see what happens 😁
