Hi, I have an iPhone 4s and will be arriving in Dublin next Tuesday and driving to Sligo. I cannot use my NZ sim as its $20 a minute so I need to get a sim / new number for the week I'm there ... I need some texts and 500MB data ...

Can I get something like this for a month and throw it away when I leave? Can I get it at the Airport ? Appreciate any advice guys & gals :)

Meteor currently give Internet access on their Pre-Paid / Pay As You Go plan. They might be your best option. I'm not 100% on this but I'm sure you can find one in the airport. If not, most large towns will have a Meteor shop. Dublin City has lots of them and I'm sure there's at least one in Sligo town.

Top up by €20 and get 250mb data (you still have the €20 to spend on calls/texts/data also), not a massive amount but should get you started anyway. After that you can get 99c a day internet access, which gives you 50mb's.

    I'd say Vodafone.

Top up by 30Euro and get the following :-

Free calls & Texts to Vodafone Mobiles

180 International Minutes to landlines & mobiles (Handy to call NZ)

You still get to keep your original 30Euro credit to use on anything else

    Details : http://www.vodafone.ie/planscosts/prepay/

As for Data, it says here... "If you've opted into a top up offer and then top up by €25 each month, your internet is free.
Otherwise you can get mobile internet and email for a service fee of €0.99 per day for the 50MB daily allowance. Then it's €1 per MB thereafter.
    "

So it seems that as you've topped up by over 25Euro all your internet is free

Many thanks !! I'd prefer Meteor as the Vodafone map shows very patchy coverage out west. They are the same here too ... cover the urban areas and screw the rest !
