I have to ask Jim, why did you just post a link that was already posted in the Op?

No bother, Op is usually the first Post and/or poster in a thread.

Ha thanks Akrasia I put the page together. Im going to put more info up as soon as I have it. I will see if I can make it easier to read.

As far as the advertising (or lack of) I know its been on Clare FM but not sure of the amount of air time its getting. I will pass the comments on to the organiser.

    Hi Akrasia,

And what part of Lough Derg will it take place?

Its not immediately obvious on the site, but its at Mountshannon

  • Registered Users Posts: 122 ✭✭watchingthepols

Will this pose any danger to Mountshannon Sea Eagles?

    White-tailed-Eagle.gif
Feeding time for the White Tailed Sea Eagles in Mountshannon

"AFTER CONFIRMATION yesterday that a pair of young white-tailed sea eagles have finally nested and bred in Ireland – the first such occurrence in more than 100 years – the public were urged to respect an exclusion zone around a small island in Lough Derg on the river Shannon.

“A truly momentous event for Clare and Ireland,” is how Dr Allan Mee, the Golden Eagle Trust’s project manager for the Irish White-tailed Sea Eagle Reintroduction Programme, described the development yesterday."

    They were there last friday...

The website is extremely uninformative, and lacks the detail about what you are going to see. It has more details on the traffic mgt plan than the air display. I was going travel by boat and watch from the lake, and make a nice day out of it, but as I dont even know whats going to be there, I dont think the effort of making the trip would be worth it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,569 ✭✭✭Builderfromhell

For the most part the web site seems to give enough info.
    However, people who do not know much about aeroplanes may not understand the schedule. For example;
    1430 -1445 OPEN XA42 SBACH ; Is this a type of aircraft?
    1500 -1515 Seaplane Fly-Past.
    1520-1550 Parachute Jump
1555-1620 SAR Demo; is this Search and Rescue?
    1630-1645 Bellanca Display; What's this?
    1710-1525 RV7; what's this?
1730-1745 CLOSE with XA42 SBACH; I think this is a model aeroplane. Is it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 953 ✭✭✭hearny

I will see if the organiser can provide some more info for you.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,831 ✭✭✭Poxyshamrock

    Anyone go? How was it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,400 ✭✭✭have2flushtwice

I didnt go, primarily because of the lack of information.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,831 ✭✭✭Poxyshamrock

I didn't go cos when I was driving through Parteen, the heavens opened! :P
Wouldn't mind seeing a few pics though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 806 ✭✭✭Jim Martin

I didn't go because of the lack of info & with the weather looking so dodgy, I couldn't afford to risk wasting money on petrol for a 100 mile drive, possibly for nothing!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,569 ✭✭✭Builderfromhell

Didn't go because I completely forgot about it.
People I know in Mountshannon didn't know it was on!

I was on my way, till we got to Scarrif, saw a big lit up sign, said no parking was gonna be available in MS, you had to park and ride, which is bollox, it was pissing rain, and I had my 4 year old & new baby, with a big pram and all the accessories, we turned around and went home,
