Hi there. Have a deep rooted fear of the dentist. Finally plucked up courage to go this wk ass second tooth broke. I'm going to need a whopping nine fillings, two of those are possibly root canals. Then the usual cleaning after.

I made a follow on appt, two fillings will be done in one sitting. He gave me prescription for Valium as its the only way I will go through with it. But, does anyone know Ida dentist up the north would be better value for that amount of work? If I got an IV sedation, would they do all the work in 1 or 2 sessions?? I'm back from maternity leave in 5 weeks so looking to get it done before then...

Appreciate any help, with 3 kids under 3 I'm finding it hard to get time to research and compare the value online.

Op aside from costs, bare in mind that you will not be able to drive North before or after taking oral sedatives so will have to get someone to take you.

Most modern clinics both north and south have websites, google dentists in your area and in the north, take into account the exchange rate (76p /€1 in post office earlier in week), consider travel costs esp fuel and child minders. Them see which option is better value.

there are some good dental places locally that do iv sedation, look around for the best places, listen stick to your local if you can,(as if things go wrong,or for emergencies, you only have to go local)BUT,if you have the time to go through this and its not a dental emergency ie painful abcesses go up north if you like, but with iv you need some one to drive with you on the way up and down or an escort to go on public transport with you,as after an iv sedation you can feel quite woosy and even nauseus or weak would be the general feeling..so be careful, they first do the iv sedation then numb your mouth with injections, after it would take maybe and hour or two for all that iv to get out of your system and can stay with you up to 24 hours, they say dont drive for at least 24 hours after iv..
