    So fingers crossed I'll be starting a PLC in a few weeks as I didn't get enough points to go to Uni and really do not want to repeat the Leaving Cert. Just wondering what should I expect. Is it like Secondary School? As in do you get homework and stuff every night? Also are there many exams? I need to get at least 5 distinctions to get into my college course next year and really don't want it to depend on one exam. Any information is welcome :)

    The answers depend a bit on where you are going and what course you are doing, but generally, no, its not like secondary school. Its somewhere between secondary and college. The atmosphere is more adult, you will be treated as adults and expected to behave like adults.

    Yes you will be in a classroom, you will have to study, take notes, write essays or whatever is appropriate to your course. You will have to work at home to keep up.

    It will be your responsibility though to do the work. You will get a good bit more support than you would in a university or IT, but at the same time its up to you in the end whether you study or not. You don't study, you fail. Your choice.

    Whether there are exams depends on the course. Some courses have continuous assessment, some have exams, some work to a portfolio, most have a combination of the above.

    Most people who do PLC courses find it a very positive experience and enjoy the year.
