i didnt meet the 0.3head/hec last year and got a letter on tues saying i could could apply for a derogation for that so i'd be eligible for DAS in 2012. I think i qualify for a derrogation ok but they want a reply tomorrow (24th) !
teagasc thought that this deadline would be extended by a week but couldnt confirm it. has anyone recieved a similar letter or know if the deadline has been extended till 31st ?
    thanks

Just got a letter stating that I did not qualify for a derogation on the stocking densities for the DAS stating that I was not a new entrant to farming. As I didnt start farming until 2011 and the definition of a new entrant is somone who started on or after jan 2010.

So I rang the dept and told them this they said according to their records I commenced in 2008, I told them this was not true that I started in 2011. They told me that I needed to produce proof i.e. a letter from the them confirming that I was a herd owner and the date of issue on that will confirm when i began farming. Now correct me if I am wrong but they should have a record of when my herd number was activated, when I applied for SFP for the first time and when I was issued with a herd register etc. Now I suggested to them that they should have this in their own records but they are insisting on a copy of this letter from me. I have no recollection of receiving this letter and my first search today has come up blank.
Given that they are a government agency and that all of their records have to be archived indefinitely why am I the one that has to search all my shoe boxes for a letter that they should already have a copy of.

    Any suggestions

My farm adviser has copies of all my sfp applicayions, I go to him a 3*year for filling out sfp reps soil tests etc. Check with him may have something that can help you.

Unfortunately as I am on very small acreage, I do not employ an advisor. I am assuming that this is just a way for the department to save on time and labour by getting us to the research work ourselves.

This is precisely why I never ring them, always write, always get it in paper, dated and signed.

A phone call is worth the paper it's printed on...

i have the journal here, and what i done was, i took the table which they gave as an example, bumped it all in to Excel, and then inserted my data,

lone behold, i could have sold if i wanted to on Aug 1st.

this will be kept as ill need it every year.

only wish it was posted on the DAS website or Dept of Agri.

try and dig out any old letter be it a copy of your application for a herd no/sfp or their reponse. anything with a date . thats all i can say.
give them something in writing for them to trace up. the phone operators probably are just that and not '' dept staff ''
if your herd no was transfered from a family member maybe you can get bank records of the sfp payments or something like that
its a cock-up but try to send something to get the ball rolling and keep your application for DAS 'active' . even try teagasc for advice
sorry:( (i have all in a shoebox too but touch wood twill all be ok)
