Memory not adding up

When I open 'My Computer' and right click the C: drive and go to 'Properties' it says I have used 71.4GB of memory. But when I enter into the C: drive and highlight all files and folders (including hidden files and folders) it says I have 33.3GB of used space.

Is there something I'm missing here or what?

    scaled.php?server=196&filename=memoryerror.jpg&res=landing

    Thanks for your time,
    Paul

Use WinDirStat to see what is eating up the space

I did that. Apparently system files are not visible on my computer apart from on WinDirStat?

I will take a guess that you are using vista

    Thats 20 gig straight away

And if you done a reinstall without format then another 20 or more could be in a windows old folder

I smell some space reserved for the swap file (Virtual Memory)...

that would be 4/5 GB at the most on normal computers.

    Going on the 1.5 rule
