    Hi all,

My mate is selling his trek 7.1fx (7 speed). It's a 2012 model and only a few months old.. He's looking for 210 euros and purchased it new for 440.00

    http://www.wheelworx.ie/7-1-FX-2012

It's only going to be used as a commute bike to work/town and im wondering is this a bargain??

Can anyone suggest a better bike for this price??

    Thanks all

It's basic and would suite a very utilitarian approach to cycling, like using it for commuting. There are a few people at work using the Trek FX series bikes and they don't seem to be complaining.

If it's in working order and nothing's loose and it fits you well then at that price it's hard to go wrong with a Trek.

I wouldn't pay over 400 euro for it but it seems like a decent enough buy for 210e provided it's in decent condition.

I'd agree. They are good bikes for commuting and you could take it out for some shorter leisure spins (I rode one over the Sally Gap once). €210 is a more than fair price as long as it's in decent nick and, just as importantly, that it fits.

It sounds like a good enough deal to me. What distance are you going to be travelling? If you're going to be getting a lot of use out of it, don't be afraid to spend a good few bob. Also, is it the right size for you?

My commute to work is about 7km each way through Dublin city. I have a focus cayo 105 for evening/weekend spins however I find this is not ideal for work commute.

The bike size is 20" and I am about 5ft10. I appear to be right on the border between a 17.5 " and a 20". What you think?

I've an FX 7.3 in 20" and am about your height - it's a good fit.
