I was waiting for this to happen.

UCD will sign you up to the bare minimum of credits to guarantee you a place and to ensure you are registered to your core (mandatory) subjects. You will select the others.

The two ECON modules are core subjects, which means you have to complete these to continue to the next year. There are two other ECON modules available. You simply select them and agree to register for them.

In Politics there are no core, but two have been selected for you regardless to ensure a place. There are two other Politic modules you can select and an International Relations module.

If you select them you would have 45/60
The last 15 is made up of 10 elective credits that can be used in any subject in UCD.
The 5 remaining credits must be used within the Arts program, but can be from any other subject.

I did 3 of those last year. They're handy enough. If you're good at maths (honors student at higher level) then Quantitative Economics should be grand for you, and Economics and Society is fairly straight forward if you're studying Economics, I'd recommend it.

Political Theory is tough content, but not difficult to do well in, just make sure you go to all your tutorials.

Politics seems really heavy on tutorials, they're easy marks, but very time consuming, but make sure you keep up with them. Loads and loads of essays! I pretty much did Politics jointly with Economics last year, but this year I'm doing just Economics, but I'll be doing the Irish politics module as an elective this year.

    Best of luck with it!

Sorry, forgot this. Choosing electives may not open yet for a few days for year 1. When you can choose them, you will be marked as 'Preselected' and will get an email if you are successful. If not, you have to choose again.
