I dont think there are cons, only pros as far as I'm concerned. Its a very good system.

You can register calves, get movement certs, use it as your cattle register, record all animal events for suckler scheme, see the ancestry of your herd, view or download all movements in and out of your herd, apply for SFP on line, submit maps if you need to, check all your previous SFP applications, view maps of them etc.

I find it very good and would advise anyone to register to use it.

Can I ask a quick question...
I've never used the online movement section..

Once I fill out the "compliance application" online and click the submit button, what happens next... do I have an option to print it or is it all done on-line?
Can the animals be moved immidiatly I fill out the online form?

I have a guy coming tonight to buy a few heifers and want to use the online transfer..

    thanks

Ya I think they can, he needs to be set up online too to accept them into his herd, some people get a planner to do it. I have done it a couple of times selling cattle but not buying them.

    Print off the movement cert.

    Insert date of movement.

    Hand one copy to buyer.

    Insert date on buyer copy.

Insert date on copy to be sent to the Department.

    Sign certificate and post.

you should have it early next week if you sign up today, keep the letter, password and personal number for logging in somewhere safe, maybe with the paperwork used to reg calves etc.

If you have a camera phone take a pic of your username and password from the letter. Then put the letter in a safe place. You can just look at the details on the phone then.

    find agfood quite good
    icbf is handy too

I've the logon details as a contact on phone now. much handier than constantly locking yourself out. They will unlock the account in a couple of days if you send them an email.

I have just bought some cattle. I have the cards and expect delivery over the weekend. I have logged onto agfood.ie and under movements it is requesting a certificate number. What is the compliance certificate number.

The seller needs to be setup on agfood as well. AFAIK they have to move them out of their herd into yours.

If the person that you bought the cattle from is on Agfood they complete a movement which generates a compliance cert. The compliance cert has a number on top of the page (under the bar code), each page has 10 animal tag numbers. If there are more than 10 animals then the same compliance cert number is used with B for page 2, C for page 3 etc.
If the person is not on Agfood then they will have to apply through the post for a compliance cert which will be posted back to them.

I would not accept the cert on Agfood presuming the seller has completed it on Agfood, until the cattle have landed on your premises.
Then you enter the date of each animal against their ear tag number and submit it if it is correct.
    Hope the above makes sense.

Under the compliance tab press view and search recent applications. It will show up there.
