He races regularly in the IVCA - I'm over next Thursday and Friday and should be seeing him and most of the others in some track sessions.

Pretty much the whole cycling team have excellent medal chances, including our very own Paralympic Cyclist

So having been front row near the start line this morning, I'm in the back row in the corner this afternoon. First up is C1,2,3 Men's kilo with Enda Smyth representing Ireland. It's going to be tough with 27 opponents.

Later will be the finals of this morning's pursuits

Amazing ride by Catherine and Fran. Old world record pace in the final and a second PB of the day which is something else in pursuiting. I understand they put a bigger gear on for the final and rose to that challenge. Big ask, big answer. The New Zealanders are superstars and the Irish closed the gap in the final. Inspirational stuff.

From the text feed on that link:

    phpspexthpi-icon.jpg
    ONLINE MANAGER:
From what we can see there's no live feed by the host broadcaster today hut Paralympic highlights are available on Setanta from 15.30 - 17.30 and then again at 18.00

    ONLINE MANAGER:

But you can still view and comment on live text commentary here for Irish Athletes!

So no pictures until later today :(

Miller takes 11th place in the C5 (Clive Sinclair has a lot to answer for!!)

  • Administrators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 78,393 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭Beasty

Enda Smyth 14th in the C3 - I suspect he is still suffering from his accident a few weks ago

Our very own Paralympic Cyclist, Colin Lynch is up now in the C2

  • Administrators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 78,393 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭Beasty

Lynch takes 5th - I suspect the guys will be a bit disappointed not to pick up at least a medal amongst them this morning - still some good chances in the Tandem and Hand Cycle this afternoon

  • Administrators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 78,393 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭Beasty

Bronze for Catherine Walsh and Fran Meehan in the tandem, adding to their silver on the track earlier in the week

Katie George Dunlevy and Sandra Fitzgerald took a very creditable 5th, only 20s outside the medal places

Bronze also for James Brown and Damien Shaw in the men's event

MEDAL ALERT! - MARK ROHAN TAKES GOLD IN TIME TRIAL FOR IRELAND!!!!! COME ON IRELAND!!!! #paralympicsire

  • Administrators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 78,393 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭Beasty

I'm pretty sure he's taken Gold - the official website has completely screwed up the timings, but he's currently shown as fastest - there are still some out on the course, so it's not official, but as he started last, unless they have got the timing wrong, he must have taken it

I believe morana is over at Brands Hatch - not sure "rejected by Liverpool" is considered enough of a disability for the Paralympics though ;)

Some paralympians have come through serious accidents so I think it would be unfair to include someone who has had a lucky escape.

To be clear, this is not morana - I believe his "celebration" would be inappropriate to post on Boards;)

His name is Gerry "Beasty" Beggs ;)

Bit of crack and I take my hat off to the whole Irish team who have delivered far far far more than was expected. Kudo's to the Cycling coach Brian Nugent, a master of the timed events especially and surely a rising star of the Irish scene..

Great day and great support for the team.

IT was tight coming into the last couple of Km's. He tried to make a move on the top of the hill and got a second or 2 but the Swiss lad got back on the descent but he won the sprint well go the line right and lead out from 150ish.

you are never rejected by LFC we are one huge family and even all mancs, cfc's who are Obssessed with LFC are welcome to join the family and the Rodgers Revolution!
