I have tried everywhere for a second hand lens. Cannot be got. 120 /130 new ... Very dear ... I see spurious lens for 59 ... Garage guy says that these parts tend to fog up in inclement weather .... In two minds what to do ! Any advice appreciated

Do they still do lenses? I thought the rear lamps would be a sealed unit?

Spurious in my experience for items that are supposed to align with other panels often are a mm or two out, meaning uneven panel gaps. I'd ring Traynors in Armagh and get a genuine from a scrapped one.

i tried every scrap yard in the area ..no luck. The garage guy knows his stuff and i would tend to agree with Tea! that was my concern ..

    Cheers

Op just so that you're aware of the different terms:

Original = part supplied under the motor manufacturer's brand name and supply chain. e.g Box branded as Skoda

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer = Made under licence by same company supplying Original part and to same standard/quality as Original but not supplied through the motor manufacturer. e.g Box branded as Hella.

Spurious = made by any 3rd party without same level of control and not necessarily to original specs. Usually ok though.

Motor manufacturers rarely make their own parts. They subcontract that out to OEMs, who often subcontract that out to other companies. The important bit is they all us the same specs and quality standards as they are the same supply chain. Spurious parts are outside of this chain.
