Duplicate key?

I'm looking around at quotes to get another key for our 2002 Corsa. Airside Opel quote us €112. I'd rather eat sand than pay that. Does anyone have experience getting a reliable duplicate key from another company? It doesn't have to do central locking, just open the driver's door and start the car.

    Thanks.

Yeah, that's excessive. I had a similar problem some years ago and what I did was I bought one of those OBD2 diagnostic tools off ebay (search for OP COM), a used remote key and an uncut blade with the transponder chip inside. Then my local locksmith cut the blade and I did the programming of the transponder and the remote with the tool and a notebook myself. It's pretty straightforward and I'd say alltogether you would have to pay about half of what Opel quoted. The OBD2 thing can still be quite useful afterwards, since you can read all the error codes and reset the service light whenever needed.

Sounds a bit fiddly. I'd prefer to have it done by someone who knows what they're doing. The Corsa gives diag codes anyway.

Just go to a locksmith who can program car keys. At a guess, I'd say somewhere in the 30-50euro range for a key that will open the doors physically, and start the car.

Does anyone have any experience with a specific company getting keys done?
