Suggestions for nice gifts for nurses

    Ahoy Folks,

Sorry if this is an odd place to post this, did a brief search and didn't find a nurse / nursing section, posted here as both my nurses are ladies lol.

Have been over every few days to James Connolly Memorial Hospital (Blanchardstown in Dublin) to get a wound dressing on my ankle changed for the past couple of months, and looks like it could continue for another few weeks yet.

The 2 nurses I deal with are extremely nice and I figured it would be only decent of me to get them some sort of thank you gift each.

Being a bloke, I tend to be dense in this sort of field, don't want to get them flowers in case it makes them think I'm a right mentaller, would like to get them something that basically says thanks, and I appreciate the help you've given me :)

So ladies, any suggestions on what would be a nice thank you gift for each of them?

Thanks in advance by the way :)
    Al

    Hey there,

This is the forum for getting advice on gifts.

    All the best.

    Diamonds.

Joking aside, it can be difficult for nurses and allied health professionals to accept gifts due to ethics and professional boundaries, so gifts such as cards and chocolate are best. Black ink pens are invaluable, but as mentioned, the nurses might feel a little uncomfortable.

Is there scope for you to maybe make a small donation to the department in lieu of gifts to staff? You could make enquiries to the hospital/clinic director of nursing if this idea appeals.

    What a lovely thought!
Used to work as a nurse and it was always nice to be appreciated.
Just that one word "thanks" can make a difference-believe me!!!

Money is a no no-but a small gift would be appreciated( and not expected!) and most definitely not frowned upon by management.

Depends on your budget-would steer away from chocolates and flowers ,as it's a bit too personal.
Perhaps a small photo frame or similar-even a bottle of wine would be nice!

Was thinking of getting wine but then thought what if one of them doesn't drink?

Was going to get a small box of Butlers chocs each, nothing extravagant, don't want to make them uncomfortable (lol they still have to put a vac dressing on my leg after op, really looking forward to it... haha) so I'll probably be like an antichrist after that :D.

Would only mean chocs with good intentions, but if you reckon it could be considered in an inappropriate way then I'll dodge that.

What about something like a teddy that said thank you on it or something? I've no clue here and last thing I want is to freak anyone out :)

AS A NURSE- WE ARE SICK OF CHOCOLATES! shift workers get tired and can tend to pig out a lot on crap and it doesnt help our lifestyle at all!
We always regret it! And Roses are the devils dick IMO!
google goodies for nurses! Nice but not expensive.
OH and Umagicbox on ebay sells lovely Fob watches with ten different colours and they are like 5 euro each or something ridiculous!

MONEY is a no no and donations NEVER get to the staff. A voucher for a local restaurant or cafe is REALLY nice as ppl find it hard to get together to socialise. It could go towards a night out....

Bless ur heart- it is so nice to be appreciated! As a student when I worked in the Kitchen of a private hospital I got to know some long stay patients. One of them gave me a porcelain Angel which I treasured.

What about the Newbridge keyrings? They are great quality and about 10e each. They are gift boxed and a special thank you token without getting too personal. You can get them in lots of shops around.
