    Hi,

My niece is looking for either the new i pad or the samsung galaxy 10 for christmas. Can anyone tell me which would be better?
She would use this for the internet music and games.
I would appreciate any advise I can get on this.

    Thanks

These threads dont necessarily bring out the best in people. They're both excellent devices for her listed needs. Is there anything else she'd like to do with them?

We got ipads for our sons last year and we think they are fantastic, they dont support flashplayer but over all they are miles ahead of Android

It really is a personal thing. I would advise against iPad just as iTunes you must use to get content on the device/first time activation is a horrible piece of software. Having said that going into a store and trying both devices (if they are on display) is probably the best way of deciding which to go for. You may not even need iTunes for most tasks but for getting music from CD/pc to the device you must use iTunes. iPads also support much less video formats than Android, so would need conversion if video transfers are required which is a tedious slow process. Also bear in mind as of Jelly Bean Android will no longer officially support Flash (although support can easily be manually installed without rooting/voiding warranty).

I thought this belongs into Gadgets... are they "computers" now? ^^

Tablets being discussed in "Gadgets", iPads are better off... they belong to Apple multimedia devices. :D

I got my girlfriend an iPad (first version) a couple of years ago and I'm still impressed with it.
Excellent battery life, ie. weeks/month or more, not days.
She played music it once through the build-in speakers and I couldn't believe the sound quality.
    Also great for eBook reading.

If the Samsung and iPad are priced similarly, I'd go for the iPad.
