Chromebox?

    Hi,

I'm a college student home for the summer. My parents were using my laptop for the internet mainly. It has Ubuntu (Linux) on it.

They don't have much computer skills. On Windows, nagging updates, viruses, etc would put them off. On Ubuntu, I know that unexpected things happen and they wouldn't know how to deal with it.

I was thinking that a Chrome OS system would be the simplest for them. Unfortuantely, I think these systems are only available from online retailers – which I haven't used before. We could get a Chromebox for €386 on dabs.ie, or €389 on expansys.ie, and get the monitor, keyboard, and mouse for approx €100 extra from Argos.

Hopefully the Chromebox would work with an Irish power supply, etc. The UK uses the same power supply system as us, and I hear that Chromebooks are for sale there, so that might not be a problem.

Retailers near Galway may be more convenient, or else a reliable online retailer.

What are your opinions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
