I'm interested in investing in State Savings. The application form says they take payment in the forms of cash, cheque or debit card. However, if I'm buying a few thousand euros worth, surely cash and debit cards are out, and I don't have a chequebook. How do you buy them in that situation?

There's a direct debit mandate on the application form...

(I know you can but at least 10k of prize bonds with a debit card)

Lots of options, I generally get a bank draft payable to myself, sign the back of it and buy the bond/cert in the post office.

I've also used third party cheques that are payable to myself eg salary cheques. Have also used cash but only about 1000 euros worth which was no problem, not sure if there is an upper limit for cash transactions.

Great, a bank draft sounds like what I'll need so. Will pop into the bank shortly and ask them, thanks.
