Depends, is it a Green light (ie a full circular light) or a green arrow for straight on? If it's a straight arrow, then no you cannot turn. If it's a full light, then yes you can.

    +1
All depends on which version of green light that is used.

at this juntion you only have two options the full green light and the filter light (i live in balbriggan and know this juntion) if you have a full green light and want to take the right turn, and you have no uncoming traffic then you may proceed without the filter arrow.... :D

As far as I know you only have to wait for the filter green if the filter road also has a red light. Typically these lights will either be two seperate sets of lights where there is a green arrow pointing straight on and a green arrow to the right/left and both will have their own red light, or there is one set of full red/amber/green lights with a green arrow filter light only. Where there are two seperate sets of lights you obey the ones relevant to you. Where there is only one full set of lights with a filter green then you can go on the main green light (provided it is clear to do so) even if the filter green is not lit.

I would add that you should turn on a full green light, if the way is clear to do so.

It drives me nuts to see someone stopped at a junction with a full green light, waiting for a filter to turn, even though there is nothing coming from the opposite direction.

I presume this is poeple that know the junction and know that a filter will follow the full green.

What do they do when they come to a similar junction for the first time.....wait indefinitely in case there will be a filter?

I wish a lot of drivers would learn this. I'm fed up sitting behind drivers waiting for the arrow, with a green light showing.

Hence why I've asked the question. I'm afraid we annoyed some poor fellow who honked at us while we waited for the arrow to light up.

So for future reference, once there's a full green the turn right can be taken, even if the arrow is red?!

If there's a red arrow then you obey the red arrow but I don't recall ever seeing a setup where there was a full green and a red arrow.

The arrow will never be red

Ive seen them before where there are a full set of light and only a red on the filter lane. I think it was a solid red (ie no arrow).
