So as far as im aware, you need to choose modules until you reach 60 credits. What i want to know is, why does my course have optional modules when core modules are already at 60 credits? Now, obviously i cant do extra modules, so why are they available?

They don't bother differentiating between the different programmes properly in registration. Your course code determines the amount of core modules you have and it's easier than tailoring the registration procedure to not show optional modules when a course only has core modules.
