In calf Fresian heifer

    Lads just seen on of the in calf replacements with a swollen quarter/ swollen but not hard. Any suggestions on treatment r is it past it and quarter gone?

    are you using fly control? is she sick with it? if sick i would draw and tube it....

    Not sick no. Used closamectin pour on. Gave her 25cc of tyloson

    its always a tricky one, if you leave it alone she will probably loose the quarter, if you draw it she will probably loose it also... i put tar on mine aswell as the pouron.... how long has she left til she calves?

    we'd the same problem last yr, she had 4 months left and we pulled her to find nothing wrong, when she calved she was dry in that quarter for the year..... up to you though it might be worse if there was mastitus and she was good for nothing or else pull her and she might not have milk in that quarter but at least you have the other three plus you have her for breeding again.

    Shes one of the later ones. Around April at a guess. I'll chance not pulling it I think.
