Why do the presenters of Risin Time, Morning Ireland and be it Pat Kenny or Myles Dungan always have to interrupt the sports bulletins and give their 5 cents worth ?

    Because it's Kooooooooool.

And they haven't a feckin' clue about sports but like to rack up their "man-o'-the-people" rankings by either engaging in tribal banter - a.k.a. Inter-County GAA slagging - or pretending to have been glued to the previous days Premier****e match so that they can pay homage to "Sir Alex" or worse still Roy Keanes' humble thoughts by re-hashing them with Des or whoever.

Worst of all are the ones who give their two cents on rugby games, where overheard and often cringeworthy opinions of some bar-stool genius get national airtime.

And it eats up programme time so that important news items are then hurried along and interviews are carried out with the haste (i.e. interrupting-their-own-questions) RTE presenters seem to engage in afterwards.

Myles Dungan would like it known that he follows Arsenal! :p

Don't always blame the presenter though - Des, or whoever it was invited a clearly disinterested Aine Lawlor to give her opinion on something or other this morning.

If they stopped doing it we would potentially miss comedy gold moments like this...

Lightens the mood & fills time in an otherwise misery filled running order.

Gives people time to fill the kettle while they waffle about grown men chasing inflated child's toys.

Bizarre sports bulletin this morning from Paudric Lodge - instead of giving the scores of last nights football matches he just listed out the Irish scorers with no mention of the outcome of the matches ........"Shane Long got 2 for West Brom, James McLean scored for Sunderland, Simon Cox scored for Forest, etc...."

How could a producer think this was a good idea? What sort of listeners could be targeting with this approach?

Irish ones! Sure why would anyone want to know the scores of League Cup games ;).

If only they could find the net so often in a green jersey :) Maybe we should apply to play in it.
