    * Lilian Garcia kicks things off and gets a nice reaction from the crowd.
    * Teddy Long is the announcer with Michael Cole since Josh Mathews is out this week.
    * Randy Orton opens SmackDown and talks about what happened on RAW. Orton wants a shot at the World Heavyweight Title and issues a challenge if anyone has a problem with that. Sheamus comes out to a big pop. Sheamus agrees that Orton should get a title shot. This brings Alberto Del Rio out, who also wants a title shot. Booker T appears and books Orton vs. Del Rio with the winner facing Sheamus.

    * Ryback vs. Jinder Mahal is up next. Ryback cuts a promo on Mahal before the match. Ryback gets the win.
    * Layla beat Alicia Fox with Kaitlyn on commentary. Good back and forth match for the Divas. Kaitlyn and Layla came face to face in the middle of the ring after the match but shook hands. Eve Torres ran down and raised both of their hands for some reason.
    * Backstage segment with Dolph Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero arguing with Sheamus, who dares Ziggler to cash in tonight.
    * Sheamus beat Dolph Ziggler by DQ after getting hit with the briefcase. Ziggler continues the attack and goes to cash in his title shot but Sheamus gets back up and Dolph leaves.
    * Santino Marella comes out and talks about his reign as United States Champion but is interrupted by new champion Antonio Cesaro and Aksana. Santino attacks Cesaro but Aksana distracts the Cobra. Cesaro ends it by laying Santino out.
    * Backstage segment with Del Rio yelling at Ricardo.
    * Kofi Kingston and R-Truth defeat Epico and Primo.
    * Matt Striker is backstage with Kofi and Truth. Titus O'Neil and Darren Young show up as do The Usos and Primo and Epico to start a big brawl.
    * Booker and Teddy are backstage talking about the tag title scene when Eve comes in. She has done research on the next contenders and has everything organized. Booker is impressed.
    * A Wade Barrett video airs.
    * Alberto Del Rio defeated Randy Orton clean via submission with the cross arm breaker. Sheamus was on commentary. After the match, there was a big brawl with Ziggler joining in. Sheamus and Orton chase off Ziggler and Del Rio to end the show.

Surely Del Rio will have to win the title from Sheamus now, if he doesn't there's no way his character can recover and be rebuilt.

    First off where is Christian?

I'd love to see a TLC or ladder match for the tag titles, at least there is four teams now maybe also throw Hawkins and Reks in the mix

Never thought i'd see Hunter and Orton both tap out in the same week.

    Ortons punishment continues so.

Damn, was hoping for an Orton heel turn and then a feud with Sheamus.

Hope Del Rio doesn't win the title,we'd be stuck with his awful promos every week then.

Wow, a clean tap out? Orton does have heat, doesn't he....

He is heading away to film Three Rounds. But yeah a main event babyface tapping is a kick in the balls. Love to know when was the last time he tapped to a non-Cena opponent.

I was trying to think when the last time a "top level" babyface tapped clean in WWE. HHH did on Sunday, obviously, but that was to Brock Lesnar, and was meant to be this massive deal. Likewise, Punk tapped against Bryan, albeit after the match was over and in contraversial circumstances. This one, thrown away on a Smackdown though....

Teddy is only an announcer for one match. They have a new colour commentator for each match. Vickie and Kaitlyn were TERRIBLE.

WWE are still booking Sheamus as a massive prick and Alberto as sympathetic with a legit gripe.

Just put Striker back in. He wont be doing PPV's anyway so what harm can it do?

is that not a good thing? I'm tired of boring faces, Sheamus being a dick is possibly the best thing they could do. Him being all nice was dull. Just Cena lite.

    Thanks Russo. :P

But seriously I don't think they are doing this completely intentionally.

Nope. It makes the heel the sympathetic one which in turn gains support for him. Pretty much the opposite of the intention. The roles should be reversed. Del Rio should be screwing Sheamus over instead of Sheamus screwing Del Rio.

Nope. Sheamus semi screwing over Del Boro at his own game is much more interesting and makes Sheamus a more interesting character. Del Boro's gimmick is nothing more than a poorly done rip off of what Ted Dibiase did in his WWF days not to mention the whole Sheamus/Del Boro feud sucks.

At least we got a show without any Big Show/Kane/AJ bollocks.

Actually them doing this by accident sound more likely than my theory.

I think it makes people laugh at Del Rio whining and damages him tbh. I don't think it creates sympathy as he would have t be liable to create that feeling.

But Sheamus is better as a 'I don't give a ****e' persona than the Cena lite one. Thats just my opinion though:)

Well that's just pointing out the obvious, almost like WWE hadn't thought of that. :D Despite the fact that it's been done a 1000 times and isn't going to make anyone care about the rivalry;. This is something a little different - the heel actually gets screwed for once but because he's an asshole nobody cares. :D Actually makes me want to watch Smackdown now to see it out of curiosity.

I haven't watched Smackdown but at Summerslam the heel Del Rio was completely screwed out of the title. Can't see how it's accidental. They are obviously trying to do something a little different. It's not like they suddenly forgot that the babyface is the one who is supposed to get screwed.

WWE could do with a bit more of Russo-style writing - I miss the chaos of 98-99. Smarks were having heart attacks. :D

I've been watching this all night, and the segment with santino was complete and Utter S###E! Ten Minutes of him playing with his friggin hand!
    ( I don't use stars because I'm keeping up my gimmick :D)

See what confuses me is I thought the point of Summerslam was that Del Rio was going to cheat to win via Ricardo's shoe except Sheamus grabbed it instead and so turned the tables. With the exception of King, I don't think anyone else has actually stressed that point. Obviously Cole wont because he's the heel but I was listening to Sheamus on commentary just now, and even he didn't make that point. Seems very strange to me.

Anyways with regards Smackdown, I didn't read the spoilers so I was pretty shocked to see Orton tap out clean. I think it puts Del Rio over strongly. I know some people are sick of Del Rio/Sheamus again, and I am myself, but I have to say I thought Del Rio was outstanding in the opening segment. Maybe the fact he knew he was going over Orton clean gave him more intensity than usual but I thought he was superb there.

As for the Santino thing, yeah it was dumb and childish but I did actually laugh at points. I think Santino is the only one that could have made an effort with that material. Don't think he quite succeeded in making it a thumbs up moment but he tried his best and did as well as he could in the circumstances.

Someone pointed out on Twitter that Cesaro's new theme is a remix of Dean Malenko's James Bond theme.

    Thoughts for this week's Smackdown:
-Of all the people to not know what to do about the tag teams, I least expected Teddy to be stumped. Surprised he didn't suggest putting them all into singles matches.
-Cole seemed to be doing the best he could with what he had. He was trying to get his guest commentators talking but so much dead air
-When Randy Orton comes out, I just get Blur's Charmless Man stuck in my head
-Del Rio talking = Me fast forwarding
-Of all the times I've seen Demolition in a match, I don't think I ever saw Crush fight until he became a singles competitor

Del Rio v Sheamus again does suggest that Del Rio will finally win the title, a prospect I hate. I can't stand Del Rio, so I can only hope Sheamus would take him out post-match and Ziggler cashes in.

Oh give me Alberto over Dolph any day. I still find him wildly entertaining though and Dolph, not as much. I'm hoping Sheamus retains next month though, if they keep him a bit ambiguous.
