    Hi guys/gals,
Im doing DN500 and registrating for Stage 2 tomorrow, or im supposed to be anyway, and in preperation for said registration i was searching the UCD website to find out what i will need to do etc, and to my horror, discovered i have missed a very important part of my registration that happened back in July, I think! It said something about choosing what you want to do for your major/minor or Joint major! I didnt do this and only ever read about the registration for august! Yes it is probably my own fault and i take responability for it fully but what can i do about this major oversight now? Its august and i havent chosen my degree subjects! Am really stressing out over this now :(

Anyone have experience with this problem or any advice, please im desperate!

You must've put down two subjects when you put down DN500 on your CAO - you couldn't have had it down as an option if you hadn't done that. I'm pretty sure that's what they mean, so you're grand.

There's a booklet that explains that. Did you get any emails saying about registering. If you click those links there is a booklet PDF on one of the pages going through the req. and what to do if you forgot to register ehst type of degree you're going to do.

In stage 2 you need to pick if you want to do a joint major or a major/minor.
If you pick joint, you have to choose 25 credits for each subject.
If you pick major/minor you pick 30/20 credits per mod.

Since you did not decide, you probably have to select your core subjects yourself. If you don't select them, you may have progression issues, so find out what is the core and select them ASAP

Don't worry OP, you're not the first and wont be the last to miss registration details.

Whatever courses you chose through CAO will be your core subjects but you need to indicate what you want your major / minor to be.

If you can't do this through regular registration coming up (read the criteria for picking subjects and amount of credits required for a major - 60 total I think, or a minor - 40 total I think...) then you can also contact admissions / student desk and I'm sure they'll sort it out for you.

The link in the email brings you to a page in UCD website and then there's a bit of text and red writing and what not in that page.

There are links to two files and it says read one before the other. The first one is about eight pages. Take time to read it.

I think because you didn't register it it means that it won't have your core modules up automatically. You'll have to find the yourself or something.

As joe brady'd say - if you had registered it would have made things easier in the future!

I'm fairly certain he'd say much worse than that.

He says those kind of veiled threats in emails or lectures talking about registrations. He probably couldn't care less otherwise. It's all independent learning and all that. It's bit as I'd he'd start roaring at you if you messed it up!

Nah. He'd not start roaring, but he'd let you hang yourself. Don't think you'd get much help from him if you screwed up something, just smile at you and say tough luck.

Great lecturer though. I loved his classes.

Yeah. He was alright. Never really understood the whole love affair with him. Having turner at the same time probably helped! He also used to turn off the lights. That sad early morning. Always felt like sleeping.

Hey guys thanks for all yer advice!
ive managed to semi-register but as would be my luck I'm having problems! Ive tried to ring the student desk but they keep hanging up on me :( I can understand they are inundated with call re: registration so what are my options for help! Should i email the student desk? If i do so should i give them my Student number and password so they can see where the problem is themselves? Or what other options do i have for help?? Ive tried everything to fix the problems i have with my core module selection and all i have managed to do is make things worse :( WHo can i turn to for help now?
Also it says i cant select my electives untill the 9th of sept?? Anyone have this issue? I dont know where i will fit my electives my timetable is so full already:mad:
Ughh why is it so confusing and difficult?
