I bought a pregnancy test today (one of those early response ones)....My period was due 5 days ago (and I am always on time/early) and it hasnt come yet, I took the test and got a negative result.....Can I relax now or could it be wrong ???? I intend to take the second one tomorrow (fingers crossed I get teh same result)

They are usually pretty accurate, next time take the test in the morning as it gives an even more accurate result. Sometimes the line can be very faint or take longer to come through than just a few min so its best to do another one to be sure.

Iirc most early response pregnancy tests suggest you retake after 7 days if your period still does not arrive.

Follow the instructions that come with the box and if you are still unsure you should check with your pharmacist or your GP.

    All the very best.

Its not likely that its wrong but if your period still hasn't come by the end of the week I'd take another test to be sure. Good luck.

A lot of the time the stressing about pregnancy can cause you to become late. I remember taking a test after stressing about it n within minutes of seeing the negative my period came. Not sure if it was coincidence or the fact I had relaxed that caused it to come.
Try not worry and redo the test in a few days.

Thanks everyone, I did the second test first thing this morning and it was negative again....still no sign of my period but I feel a bit more relaxed about it. I am thinking of buying another test (of a different brand, just in case) and trying it again in a day or so....but fingers crossed I am in the clear (luckily my boyfriend was fantastic when I told him and would have been there for me either way).
Thanks again, will keep you all posted !!

could it be that you are stressed or have lost a lot of weight? Or may be you are taking a medication that affects your cycle?
It also happens for women that over time, their cycles get a bit late or early by a few days, even when they have been regular for years.
