    Jobseeker's allowance and unemployment assistance?

    Can anyone tell me what the difference is between these two?

    No difference. Jobseekers Allowance was known as Unemployment Assistance prior to Oct 2006 and is a means tested payment given when you have no entitlement to Jobseekers Benefit (previously Unemployment Benefit) based on your PRSI contributions or have exhausted your Benefit entitlement.
