If you buy your straws direct, how is a repeat charged. Have you paid full price for the straw, or do you get a free straw?

Dovea ai in north tipp. €31 first time, €8 repeat including straw. imported and special straws cost more. using the farmers own straws is€22 first time and €8 repeat. That's foe dairy bulls anyways...

In leitrim its 30 euro first time and 10 for a repeat. Have used a couple of 100 euro straws on pedigree limousins this year and thankfully no repeats. Ai man will also store straws for us if we want him to.

€33 for first service and one free repeat here.

He was telling me about a farmer who he had AI'd a cow for last February and she was in heat again last week.

The farmer was asking him why he was charging since it was a repeat.

We are in North Offaly and use Eurogene, they have a funny pricing plan with standard and premium bulls. The general run of the bulls is about €28 for a first service and €10 for a repeat up to 3 repeats.
The premium bulls are different prices but €35 or €40 first service and €18 for a repeat would be an example.
I would also buy straws of Dovea and Bova and Progressive etc, our AI man would carry these in a "Private Pot" and only bring them if asked. These straws could cost me anything really, say FL22 straws at €10 each to some from the Charolais Soc for €50. The charge to get these put in the cow is €15, so cost of straw plus €15 is what they work out at.

I keep threatening to buy a few Dancer straws, must have a look now!

I think dancer is €15 so hes reasonable enough. Have a friend who bought a few of his straws for a pedigree limo cow.

I see him there on Sligo AI for €12. Royalty sire too but I've no Ped Lim cows so it wont matter.
I'm gonna go through Sligo now and pick a few bulls.

sounds like im being over charged by my fella. he gets straw from all stations but the docket says progressive. 15 for repeats is a bitch and having a lot of cows repeat this year more than once

Any trouble calving? This is what Sligo AI say "Producing show calves with average calving ease and some unassisted calving on heifers". His calving difficulty on ICBF is 14% ranking him at 3% across all breeds:eek:.
