I've read the sticky so I'm not going to post my problems like I was meaning to....

But could anyone do me a great service and point me in the direction of a good family lawyer preferably southside Dublin. I'm looking for advice to do with 'who gets the house?' and stuff...

Forgive me for the informality of this post, I'm quite frazzled at the moment. (ANd, for the record, I will not sue anyone who comments on this post, or indeed, I will not sue Boards.ie)

    Please?

To be fair the charter is more there to protect you when people like me come along and offer advice that isn't 100% (1%?) correct. It does also plainly state how to phrase questions in the hypothetical.

Some advice regarding getting a solicitor; phone a few - see which ones seems decent. I have to admit I picked on when I had employment issues purely on the basis she was willing to have a brief chat to me for free. Beyond that I continued to use her because she was honest and up front. My continuing question though out was - How much is this going to cost? Which is pretty much the same question I ask when I'm getting any sort of professional service.

Ring 10 general practice solicitors or ones who say they do family law in your local area.

Family law isn't as specialised as you might think - it's often fairly straightforward.

Get a quote from each and try to get the best price and, most importantly, one who you feel will do you a good service and will be honest with you.

Instruct the one you feel most happy with.

You can ring a large and well known family law firm but they will likely charge you top dolla

Quick one on that, I’m reading some scary stuff re solicitors, higher prices don’t equate to good service, only one winner etc... Any tell tale signs of a good / bad family law solicitor? Am shopping round but don’t have a clue, have asked friends who’ve been through the same, but they don’t have great experiences...
