    Hi all,
Is there sucha thing as paint for shower tiles? We have a shower/bath, and the tiles on the adjoining wall are a tad grotty. However, we can't afford to replace them just now so was thinking that we could just paint them instead. I've been told though, that any paint would be quickly washed away and look terrible, but I'm thinking that humanity has surely advanced to a level where some form of water-proof paint is not beyond the limits of our ingenuity!

    Thanks for any suggestions.

There is loads of paint that is waterproof but painting tiles never looks good. But if you insist you need to get a primer to prime the tiles and then use an undercoat and gloss.

Completely agree with Joey the lips.....be sure to get a primer and allow drying time.

Have just finished main bathroom - really perfect. Did the practise run in the ensuite, no primer (figured 'one-coat' did what it said on the tin....it didn't! Spent weeken scraping it off). Do use primer, but it's a fab way to freshen tiles:D

Would love to help, but haven't a clue of how to attach it here....duh!!
Took a pic with iPad, but it doesn't do it justice. Can forward it to you by email if you wish.

Either way, give primer 12 hours drying time, even though it only recommends 4, same for the paint. Good luck;)

Can you use it on floor tiles too?

I'd love to totally rip out and replace the main bathrrom suite in my house, retile, repaint.........do everything BUT I can't afford it.
However, I was thinking about trying to repaint the tiles and just get new taps, towel rail, shower curtain, mirrors, etc.

Im not sure abou the paint myself but seen on a DIY program on tv recently where the people had very little money to do up the palce to sell so decided to paint the tiles, looked ok to brighten up the place.

You could consider getting coloured glass to go over your tiles, I beleive it is not as expensive as tiles and can be put up within an hour so.

    Google colour glass.

You can get special tile paint suitable for bathrooms - which does the job without the primer. You can get it in one of big hardware stores. Several brands here is one below http://www.buy4now.ie/woodiesdiy/productdetail.aspx?pid=7380&loc=P&catid=2.2.2
